reading worn away writing on tombstones.

Hi people,

l went today to the church graveyard of the village 
Gorgeous
where my ancestors, stretching back 300 years ago, lived. And we could

make out my family name on most of the tombstones. However, it is very

difficult to work out all the information such as the first name, date of

birth and death...and so on. (although we have a family tree).

was wondering if there is any device which can make carvings in the stone 
more clear? (l was thinking perhaps that ultra-violet light thingy they 
use in CSl on television?)

Any ideas much appreciated.

check with your local family history society, they sometimes

have records of tombstone inscriptions on file.

also you could ask at the local registry office as they should have a lair

Try to use a wax crayon on paper like they do brass rubbings.

Or try placing a silk scarf over it and feeling for the letters that make

the silk may work as your fingers will slide over it allowing you to feel  
more. I Know it works for finding repairs on cars that you cant see. so
